Strong day for XC flights but the N wind is forecatsed to be stronger than yesterday, so we consider Sopot take off is not launchable.
Good for free flying from Brestovitsa and Beklemeto.
The task is cancelled due to North wind on take off.11:47
The task is set 94 km race to goal. But we are waiting for the suitable wind.07:18
Every morning the organizing team has briefings to maintain high level contest organization. We study questions of the previous days and set a working plan for the coming day. We do everything so that the pilots enjoyed the competition. Here is the photo of the organization members.07:04
Good morning! The weather again calls for a big task. We have could base of 3300+ m NNW an WNW winds and clims of 4-5 m/s.
It was a great task today and we had 99 pilots on goal. The first in Overall are Luca Donini (ITA), Petr Kostrhun (CZE) and Adrian Thomas (GBR). The first lady is Klaudia Bulgakow (POL).12:11
The task is set 129 km Race to goal. Start is at 12:40.12:11
Right after launch pilot Washington Peruchi got into turbulence an emergency landed. He is absolutely ok. He rested for 20 min prepared his glider and launched again!09:44
We are going to take off. The lift brings us almost to the top and then about 100 m of walk.06:14
Good morning! The fine weather returned. We have fresh summer morning with plenty of sunshine. The cloud base raised and now is at 2800. During the day we expect N-NW wind and climbs of up to 5 m/s. It's a fresh day for a big task.
The official results of Task 3 and 4 are published. After thorough study and consideration all the subnitted protests have been rejected. The results tables can be found in the respective day blogs or at the competition Results page.07:14

The task is stopped due to overdevelopment and rain on the course. Day is cancelled the task will not be scored.11:48
The task is set - 80 km - Race to goal. Start is at 13:10.07:56
Good morning! Today we have a hot summer day. The possibility to fly a task depends upon if it is safe for launch on take off due to N winds.
Falling winds in the area of mountain passes. Big clouds and cloudsuck. There is also a possibility of overdevelopment in the afternoon. Cloud base 2500.
The provisional results for task 4 are published. We had 106 pilots on goal. The first three in Overall are Stefan Wyss (SUI), Steban Novoa (COL), Sigel Michael (SUI). The first lady is Seiko Fukuoka (FRA).
Please note that the results of task 3 are still provisional as the have a protest on consideration.15:56
It is a great race! Pilots start taking goal now. We have more than 30 pilots on goal already and more to come. The weather is fine and the retrieve is not over taken by a lot of calls of preliminary laded. Though there are some as usual. We think this will be a remarkable task. The results will be published in the evening.11:55
The task is set - 121 km - Race to goal. Take off window opens at 12:15. Start is at 13:05.08:06
Good morning! The flying weather continues. Today we have cloud base of 2500 and NNE wind about 6 m/s. Pilots should take care of falling winds in the area of mountain passes, congestus clouds and cloudsuck. But today again we have good day for a big task!
We had 61 pilot on goal today. The first woman is Klaudia Bulgakow (POL) the first man is Adrial Thomas (GBR).11:27
The task is set - 117 km - Race to goal. Window opens at 11:50. Start is at 12:40.10:09
We are going to the take off. The weather promises an excellent race.06:42
Good morning everyone! The good weather continues and the NE wind that prevented us from launch yesterday became weak and will not be a problem at the take off. We think today we can have a big task! Cloud base is 2700.
The weather is really fine. Perhaps we have one of the best days. But unfortunately the back wind at the take off didn't give us an opportunity to fly. The safety committe decided to cancel the task. The pilots are going down by sky lift.13:41
The wind condition at the take off does not allow the launch. The task committe keeps postponing the start time hoping that the wind will take a desirable direction.12:43
The task committe is changing the task. We are waiting for the new time and data.11:51
The task is set - 88 km - Race to Goal. Window open time is 12:50. Start is at 13:40.09:33
We are going to take off. The pilots are comming to the sky lift to be delivered on top the hill.07:06
Good morning! The NE wind is weaker and shouldn't be a problem at take off. We hope that the clouds will soon dissappear and we have a nice flying day.
The weather was excellent! Solid thermals with strength of 4 m/s, conversion lines and zero turbulence. We had 120 pilots on goal. The results are published. The first pilot on Goal is Stephan Morgenthaler (SUI), the second is Luca Donini (ITA) and the third is Josh Cohn (USA). The first lady is Seiko Fukuoka (FRA).13:07
Provisional task was set to 75 km but after an hour of watching the task committee has changed it. The task is set 70 km - race to goal. Take off window opens at 14:15. Start is at 15:15.08:42
The weather looks suitable. Pilots take the sky lift to go up to the take off.07:29
Good day but everything will depend on take off conditions at launch. Cloudbase 2400m.
The Northern winds are still strong, but when they turn from NE , they get more blocked by the terrain (there are 2-3000 m high mountains 100 km SW from Sopot). The higher parts of Stara Planina (10-20 km ENE from Sopot) also protect from NE winds.
So we think it may be possible to fly today.
At 12:00 the bus with pilots will go to Hotel Hissar SPA to the mineral water swimming pool.10:28
The day is cancelled due to strong N wind.08:17
Good morning! The weather forecast for today seems similar to yesterday’s. Now the wind at the take off is up to 10 m/s. Pilots have to wait on the Shambhala's center lift station till 10:00 when the forecast will be updated. Follow the information on the site.
The provisional results are published. 49 pilots managed to make the goal today. The first man is Marco Littame (ITA) - he started almost one hour ahead of all the pilots and made his long and difficult way through forest hills with no landing possibility. However the time distance on goal between him and the second pilot shortened to only 5 min. The first lady is Petra Slivova (CZE).17:50
It was a very tricky task with 90% of cloud coverage. We have about 40 pilots on goal. The results will be published soon.15:14
After the window was open only few of pilots ventured to launch. Almost all of them landed near the start. Others waited for the start cylinder to open. After almost an hour of waiting the main grojup of pilots launched. The race goes on normally. The first pilot to take the TP 1 was Marco Littame and then Tuzer and Savov.12:30
We are in parawaiting mode now because the start area is covered by clouds. And we don't have any thermal activity in front of take off.11:56
The task is set 75 km race to goal. Window opens at 12:50. Start is at 13:50.10:14
We are at the take off. Task committee is discussing a task.07:20
Good morning! Good day for task. The North wind will penetrate through Bekleme and Shipka pass and through the whole Stara Planina mountain later in the day.
Possible switching of wind and turbulence around take off.
Wind: 2000 m - 4 m/s NNW 3000 m - 8 m/s NW
Thermals and gradient: 3-4 m/s average climbs
Cloudbase: 2600 m
Looks like tomorrow we going to have less wind and sunny weather generally!
