The competition will be held on the Loser. If required, we will have an alternative launch on the Feuerkogel.

Altaussee is a beautiful little town in the middle of the Salzkammergut, which is an area embedded between the flats in the north and the main alpine ridge in the South. The Salzkammergut is known for its spectacular combination of mountains and lakes and provides an ideal holiday destination. It’s name stems from the rich salt deposits, which have already been mined for more than 5000 years. The area is dominated by the Dachstein, one of Austria’s most iconic mountains. The ice caves inside the Dachstein are definitely worth a visit.

Take off - Loser N47 39.623, E13 47.146 - 1600 m ASL, 900 m elevation

The hang gliding competition take-off is at the parking place at the end of the Loser Panormastrasse. The take-off faces south and provides a perfect starting place for flights heading to the Ennstal and the main alpine ridge. The take-off is 900 m above the Altausseer See, with the landing field right next to the lake. The panorama is dominated by the Dachstein in the Southwest and when seeing that, any pilot will immediately dream of final glide from the Dachstein back to Altaussee.

Take off Feuerkogel - N47 48.957, E13 43.259 1600 m ASL, 1150 m elevation

The Feuerkogel provides a short hang gliding ramp on top of the North facing cliff. The ramp can be reached by cable car. This site can be used in North winds and provides a nice entry into the entire Salzkammergut flying area. You can decide to go south towards the main alpine ridge, or you can hop from lake to lake by heading north.
