Flying site

Takeoff Boseong Juweol mountain is a peak about 530m ASL, located in south area of Korea. Its facing South-sea and there are mountains to north side, the floor of the flat is 10 meters ASL. Flying season lasts all year round.

1. ENTRY

1.1 The target for maximum competitors is 50 pilots.
1.2 The Entry fee for the competition is 60 USD (60,000KRW) /pilot

1.4 End date of Entry Fee payment is 13 Oct 2017 and it is No Refundable.

2. GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

2.1 Registration

The on line registration will be open from September 21 to October 13 2017. Online registration can be done at https://airtribune.com/2017kfs-acc/info

2.2 Pilot Requirements
■FAI SPORTING LICENCE is essential required
■Evidence of pilot qualification/Paragliding license equal to parapro4 issued by their NAC.
■Prove of pilot Nationality
■Pay the entry fee for 60 USD (60,000KRW)
■Signed Release of liability document

2.3 Number of Rounds

There will be 6 rounds maximum.

2.4 Launch order
Launch order will determine by drawing.
For the final round, pilots should launch in reverse order of their current competition position.

3. TECHNICAL MEETING AND PILOT BRIEFING
■All pilots must attend the technical meeting.
■If a pilot is not attending the technical meeting, he will be consider understood of all the competition rules.
■Pilot briefing for pilots and team leader by Meet Director will take place at Take off area, every day before starting the 1st round on that day or after a stand down.

4. SITES
■Hill, height 530 m ASL
■Distance from take off to LZ, 1000 m
■Landing Zone , 10 m ASL

5. TAKE OFF & LANDING

5.1 Take Off
■At the Launch Marshal’s or Meet Director’s discretion, a pilot may be temporarily stood down or permanently withdrawn from the competition if he/she appears unable to launch safely in wind and weather conditions that fall within operating limits.
■A failed take-off attempt or safety problem arising immediately after take-off (and which is not a result of pilot’s poor pre-flight check) which results in a landing at take-off, or away from the target, will be eligible for a re-launch for that round.
■Competitors must fly in the published flying order, unless they have prior permission from the Launch Marshal.
■Competitors not ready to fly in the established flying order when called forward to launch by the Launch Marshal, or who take off without the Launch Marshal’s permission, will be liable to a maximum score.
■A pilot who is not present at launch will be marked ABS in the results of that round and a maximum score will be recorded.
■A pilot who did not fly will be indicated as DNF in the results for that round and a maximum score will be recorded.

5.2 Landing
■The Measuring Field will have clearly marked circles set at 2.5 m, 5 m and 10 m.
■Competitors will be scored according to the distance in centimeters between the first point of ground contact and the edge of the dead centre disc to a maximum score of 1000.
■Landing must be made on the feet. Falling is not allowed and a maximum score will be recorded, if the competitor falls.
■Falling is defined as: described in the Section 7C rules in force at the time of the competition.
■If a competitor lands with both feet together and the first point of contact cannot be determined, then the furthest point of the footprint is measured.

6. SCORES
■Individual scores shall be an aggregate of all scores achieved by that competitor. When five or more valid rounds are completed, the worst score is dropped.
■The winner shall be the pilot gaining the lowest aggregate score across all the rounds flown in the event.
■The 5 pilots make a team ( 6 pilots for the maximum, include women pilots).
■For team scoring, shall be aggregate of top three scores acheved by the team competitors for each round.
■One practice round score will be keep as a provisional result in case of bad weather and there is no valid round.

7. PENALTIES

Specify the penalties that may be imposed by the Meet Director.

8. COMPLAINTS AND PROTESTS
■Complaints and Protests will be dealt with according to the procedures in Section 7C and General Section. A complaint may be made to the Meet Director or deputy, preferably by the Team Leader. It should be made with the minimum delay and it will be dealt with expeditiously.
■If the complainant is not satisfied with the outcome, the Team Leader may make a protest in writing to the Director. The time limit for protests is 1 hours after notification of the result of the complaint. The protest fee is 50USD (50,000KRW). It will be returned if the protest is upheld.

1st Winner: 500,000 KRW

Flying site

Takeoff Boseong Juweol mountain is a peak about 530m ASL, located in south area of Korea. Its facing South-sea and there are mountains to north side, the floor of the flat is 10 meters ASL. Flying season lasts all year round.
The elevation keeps 1200~1800 m, average temperature between 15 to 25 °C.
Boseong Juweol mountain is a famous for paragliding place and MTB in Korea offering good conditions even for beginner-pilots. The usual flights are made crossing flat and along the ridge of Jewol mountain. Can make route to north, east, west directions.
Thermal strength in up to 4 m/s. Usual best hours to start is about 12:00. Thermals begin at about 11 a.m. and last until 4 p.m. The conditions are good for flying - no strong winds in this region.
The longest flights made from there exceed 100 km. And the pilots managed to climb as high as 2000 meters ASL.
This place has already host a number of paragliding events: Korean league.

Take-off - 530 ASL (52S 336410.60 E, 3853646.67 N)
The launch ground is located in 3 km from the nearest town and can be reached by taxi or bus. It takes 20 minutes to get there.
The slope descend is about 15 degrees, it is concrete road. The take off ground allows 2 simultaneous launches. Top landing is difficult, but possible.

Landing - 30 ASL (52S 338511.23E, 3853756.80 N)
Ground is covered with grass. The landing is located in 0.1 km to the city, near the road.
