District Governorship of Cameli and Municipality of Cameli, in collaboration with Governorship of Denizli metropolitan city, will be hosting 2021 Turkish Pre-World Cup and Cameli 8th Paragliding XC Open, a FAI sanctioned CAT2 event. The seven day event will run from 25 July to 31 July 2021, with no rest days. 25 July will be an official practice day. Cameli, which is known as Turkey’s extraordinary XC and competition site, has hosted Turkish Nationals in 2016 and 2019 and Pre World Cups in 2013, 2014 and 2018.

Flying site

Cameli is a wooded highland district of Denizli Province at the western end of the Taurus Mountains in Turkey and near by Cibyratis road.

Cameli is located not far from Oludeniz - Fethiye and Denizli, a metropolitan city. It is a major XC flights intersection of South West Turkey. The possibilities to fly in all directions are enormous. Besides, its beauty and the magnificent landscape, Cameli has great variety of local traditional food, distinguished from the other territories of the Aegean Region.

The best flying conditions are in June, July, August and September with excellent thermal activities. Still at any other time of the year the place offers good flying conditions with good thermals. So both in spring and in autumn till the end of October, Cameli welcomes pilots to have pleasant XC flights.During the flying season the thermals are usually active until 5 p.m. in spring and 6 p.m. in summer. The best time to have a start window is 12:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Average flights made in Cameli are about 60-90 km. But with S-SW winds, this place place has a good potential for XC flights exceeding 300 km. Cloud base is generally expected as 3000 m and up to 4000-4500 m.

Average of task distances was 75 km for 4 tasks in 2017 Cameli XC Open, 96 km for 6 tasks in 2018 Cameli Turkish Pre World Cup and 81 km for 6 tasks in 2019 Cameli Turkish Nationals, respectively.

New Turkish XC Open Distance record of 346.1 km has been broken last summer, at 19 July 2020 by brilliant Turkish Pilot Dora Goksal. Then, a week after, new Turkish Woman record of 239 km has been broken at 26 July 2020 by Gulsah Hos. But it is rather a new place and the experts are sure that it has more records to come.

Take off Yaylacik Hill: 2130 ASL (36°58'49.12"N 29°18'50.78"E)
Winds: SW, S SE winds to fly north directions. The take-off ground has been rebuilt under supervision of PWC. It takes about 20-25 minutes to drive to the take-off from Cameli.
