Airtribune 2.0
We are glad to announce that our project has been upgraded. The improvements affect not only our web-site as the showcase of the service, but also its inner structure and components such as server, visualization engines, etc.
With the first version of the service, created by a small group of enthusiasts, we managed to provide live tracking to some competitions last year. The information obtained during real tests in 2012 set a base for the system requirements. And after arranging stronger team we are ready to go further with the project.
What’s new in Airtirubune 2.0
First of all, server software was redesigned thus to support many events at the same time. It will also support usage of buffer data received from GPS tracker after pilot passed area which is not covered by cell phone network. It also help to identify clearly when pilot is taking turn point and draw his track correctly immediately after network coverage appears again.
Secondly, much work was made in order to create really fast and stable flight visualization player. New version has better network module to provide more flexible and rapid reciprocity with server side. For example paragliding race viewers may watch replay of past time part of the race during live broadband. We also prepared some interesting visual effects which are aimed to improve flight visualization based on live tracking, make it more informative. Technology chosen allows this player to work properly at any mobile device.
Thirdly, we are up to first social functionals on our service. “Follow” button will be next to each competition header. This will make possible viewers to subscribe for event promotion information. We expect that such functionality will take effect for viewers attitude in point of live races watching.
Web engine was also changed but in spite of this all previous events were carefully moved to the new format as well as pilots and organizers database. Care about information stored and published on our service is our priority.
