Gavin Mcclurg and Dave Turner are going to fly across the whole Alaska from West to East on the north side of possibly the least-accesible mountains in the Americas.

It took them 6 years to plan and prepare the expedition and off they flew on May 6th. On the picture you can see what they'll be carrying for the next month or two. Without food and water 44 pounds, which is a pretty good cut from the Rockies Traverse, thanks to a lighter Niviuk wing, Sup'air harness and a lot of other cool kit. Also ice axe, crampons, and a lot of bear and mosquito kit too so still pretty close. So with food and water, will be up around 60 pounds. The pilots will have food caches in place before they start about every 120 km, with the exception of the Denali National Park, which is 200 as the crow flies and we've just gotta send it over that puppy as landing or launching is illegal in the park. They hope that they can cover the 120 every 5 days as that's about all the food they can carry.
