Event info
The Belgian Ardenne Paragliding Open is a flatland competition spread over 5 weekends. We will be using the foot-launched hill take-offs of the beautiful Ardenne in the south of Belgium and the north of France. The weekends are:
March 13 & 14 Delayed.
March 20 & 21 March as Launching Event Weekend ( Organiser : X1X Team)
April 17 & 18 (MD TBD)
May 08 & 09 (MD TBD)
June 19 & 20 (MD TBD)
September 11 & 12 as Closing Event Weekend if flyable (MD & Organiser TBD)
Every weekend will be a separate FAI Cat 2 competition ! When the competition sells out completely, we expect between 30 and 40 points for the winner if we can fit 2 tasks in. There is no need to participate in all weekends, pilots can participate as it fits their agenda. For every weekend we keep 10 day tickets which can be obtained from one week before the event with the Meet Director. For Belgian pilots, we will crown the king of the flatlands at the end of the 5 weekend.
In case of bad weather, we will cancel the weekend on Thursday or Friday evening before the weekend.
Retrieve is not foreseen by default, but we will facilitate retrieve by fellow competitors through a whatsapp group, and, as much as possible we will take hotspots of public transportation as goals for the tasks with the possibility to return to take off by train or bus. The Belgian Ardenne are well served by the Belgian railroad, the most dense rail network in the world ...
No airspace infringement will be allowed during the competition, and we will provide you with correct OpenAir files for each weekend as well as specific briefing informations.
Scoring will be done after the event, this year we will use TBS and PG-Race (Android & Web App) for the first time.
COVID-19 INFORMATIONS
Be aware that we cannot anticipate the pandemic crisis evolution but we will manage to keep the current situation in mind along the season. For now we will be going one weekend at the time and we hope to race as long as outside sport are allowed and the Belgian airspace is open ! As we do not risk any contagion once in the air, the main risk is for us on take-off and mainly Briefing...
This is why, this year THE BRIEFING WILL BECOME AN E-BRIEFING (or web-Briefing) YOU WILL RECEIVE THE EVENING BEFORE WITH THE CONFIRMATION, THE LOCATION OF THE NEXT DAY EVENT AND THE LOCAL REGULATION (if necessary) VIA THE OFFICIAL WHATSAPP GROUP (you can always find a friend to share it with you if you're WhatsApp paranoid). BY THE WAY, THE RACE-PANEL WILL BE DISPLAYED EACH DAY ON TAKE-OFF AS USUAL.
NB : WE EXPECT OF EACH PILOT TO RESPECT THE SANITARY MEASURE AS WELL FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH AS TO AVOID ANY UNNECESSARY COMPLICATION WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES !!!
