International FAI Cat 2 competition Bayern Open 2022 at the Unternberg in the Chiemgau Alps in Ruhpolding from 21 - 24 May 2022.
Organized by some dedicated pilots of the German league and the Delta Club Bavaria Ruhpolding e.
Flying site
The flying site is located in the northern Alps in Germany, west of Salzburg.
The main takeoff is the Unternberg (1380m) for NW and additionally the Hochfelln (1665m) for E, both takeoffs are reachable by cable car.

International FAI Cat 2 competition Bayern Open 2022 at the Unternberg in the Chiemgau Alps in Ruhpolding from 21 - 24 May 2022.
Organized by some dedicated pilots of the German league and the Delta Club Bavaria Ruhpolding e. V. We have places for 100 pilots. The entry fee is 140 € which includes lunch packs, transportation to takeoff, retrieve and a daily beverage at goal for every pilot. We plan an included pilots dinner.
Our headquarter is in a hut at the big main landing zone "Großgstatter" close to Gstatt 5, 83324 Ruhpolding.
If you want to try local food like bavarian Beer, Pretzels, Leberkassemmel, Windbeutel and have we already mentioned beer?, then join us for the Bayern Open 2022. We are looking forward to welcome you in the beautiful Chiemgau Alps.
English briefings for foreign pilots available - you are welcome to the competition!
Selection and entry fee
Payment will be by Paypal. Details will be sent by email if your application to participate is accepted.
100 places available. Places will be offered on the following basis:
- 15 pilots first come, first served
- top 10 ranked females that have registered (not limited to 10)
- 40 places reserved for the German league
- WPRS order for the remaining places
WPRS date is 1st April 2022.
The organisers reserve the right to vary the above method at their discretion at all times.
Requirements for Pilots to enter this competition:
- All pilots must hold a valid FAI sport license and shall be of sufficient standard to meet the demands of an international competition. Helmet with norm CE EN 966, harness with protector and reserve system. Paragliders must be flown in their certified weight range. Only Paragliders with EN or CCC certification are allowed. The organisers have the right to refuse any glider of not acceptable standard or configuration.

- All pilots fly on their own responsibility. All pilots accept without restriction to hold the organisers, its bodies and members harmless and waive all claims to compensation. – See page 3; DHV-Liability Disclaimer .
- We check the required documents at the registration in the HQ and if you do not provide these documents, you can´t participate and we will not refund your participation fee. You can find the "Documents required at registration" in the competition details.
Rules:
DHV-Wettbewerbsordnung 2022 - FAI Section 7
Retrieval / Shuttle: Retrieval along the main roads and shuttle service to takeoff / back to HQ will be organized.
If you have a flymaster livetracker, please bring it to the competition and add it in the "Live trackers" tab.
Documents required at registration

FAI Sporting Licence
Issued by your local NAC on behalf of the FAI. You cannot normally compete in an FAI event without one. Contact your National Association (NAC)

National Licence
The organiser requires you to present your National flying licence.

Signed Application form
You will need to sign an applicaton form at the venue. Usually the organiser will provide it on arrival.

Signed Waiver/Release form
You will need to sign a waiver or release document to show you understand the risks. Usually the organiser will provide it on arrival.

Identification documents needed
You will need to provide photo ID on arrival. This could be Passport, Driving Licence or National ID, for example.

Liability Insurance
You must provide the organiser with a copy of your liability (3rd party) insurance documents

Rescue/Medical Insurance
You must provide the organiser with a copy of your medical, rescue and repatriation insurance. You can purchase Global Rescue cover from Airtribune
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation more than 4 weeks before competition start date = 100% refund of entry fee*
- Cancellation more than 2 weeks before competition start date = 50% refund of entry fee*
- Cancellation less than 2 weeks before competition start date = 0% refund of entry fee
* Cancellation fee of 20 EUR will be deducted
Cancellations must be send by email to bayernopen2022@gmail.com. Please be aware, refunds, if due, are not immediate. We expect to complete all refunds within 4 weeks after the competition.
We do hope for good weather, but if the weather does not allow a safe competition, we have to cancel it. No alternative dates planned so far. In case of competition cancelation 30,-EUR of the payment can not be returned.
The organizers will not be liable for any costs incurred by anyone attending, or intending to attend the event, or any consequential losses arising from the cancellation, relocation, or rescheduling of the event, or your inability to attend.
Prize fund and scoring categories

- SERIAL (with at least 10 participants)
- SPORT (with at least 10 participants)
- WOMEN (with at least 5 participants)
Additionally pilots from bavaria will be ranked in the following categories:
- BAYRISCHER MEISTER
- BAYRISCHE MEISTERIN (with at least 3 participants)

OVERALL - Reserved to pilots flying paragliders certified EN A - EN D, CCC
SERIAL - Reserved to pilots flying certified EN A - EN D
SPORT - Reserved to pilots flying certified EN A - EN C
In case of double certification, the more restrictive one will be considered.
Winners must be present at the awards ceremony to collect the prize, proxies are not accepted. Prizes not claimed will remain at the organization.

Camping at the Biathlon center in Ruhpolding (Biathlonzentrum 1, 83324 Ruhpolding) 20€ p.P. per night.
