The next one will be in Italy’s Pieve d’Alpago from 8th to 15th June. Beskidy Cup is the first “big” cat. 2 competition run in Poland for a very long time. It’s also the first time when Polish Paragliding Nationals are run in two rounds. The champion titles will be awarded to the pilots with highest overall score gained at both events. So the winners will be named after discarding the worst results.

Flying site

Flying site is located in the Beskid Slaski and Beskid Zywiecki region. The main take-off Skrzyczne is the Polish paragliding Mecca, swarming with pilots on a good flying day. The site offers a great variety of XC routes – long straight distance flights and big FAI triangles. The best flights made from this site are almost 200 km open distance and 150 km triangles.
The other take-off we might be using is Zar Mountain best known for its world famous gliding school. And with stronger southern winds we might even go to launch from Slovakia.

During the competition the following flying sites will be used:

Skrzyczne - 1250 m ASL, 680 m AGL (N 49.686095°, E 19.030509°)
There’s a chairlift from the centre of Szczyrk right to the top. It takes about 20 minutes. To get more information you can watch Skrzyczne flying site video.

Take-off # 1 - N-NE - about 50 m down the black ski piste from the chairlift top station. Grassy lane with a lot of space, relatively flat. Start is very easy.

Take-off # 2 - E - located to the East of the above launch. Quite steep, space for 6-8 wings. Start is easy with E wind.

Take-off # 3 - N-NW - about 50 m down the red ski piste from the chairlift top station. A lane with some grass and rocks, relatively flat. Start is easy with N-NNW directions.

Zar - 750 m ASL, 320 m AGL (N 49.787076°,E 19.224497°)
There’s a cable railway right next to the gliding school in Miedzybrodzie Zywieckie. It takes ca. 10 minutes to the top. To see it for yourself please watch Zar flying site video

Take-offs - There are fairly easy grassy take-offs to the N, W and S.

Unlucky weather caused competition cancellation

Unfortunatelly, due to unfavourable weather conditions we have decided to cancel the first round of Polish Paragliding Championships 2013 planned for 1st-5th May in Szczyrk/Poland. We hope that we will be more lucky next month in Pieve d'Alpago in Italy, where we have planned the second round from 8th to 15th June. See you there!
