PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING - This competition is open to current pilot rated and above members of the BHPA (British Hang gliding and Paragliding Association), please DO NOT register if you are not a member or your registration will be cancelled. This is the second UK round of the BPCup.

Who are the BPCup pilots? Our competitors are pilots from a wide range of backgrounds all drawn together by a shared love of flying paragliders and quite often just starting out on their competitive journey. We aim to give you a fun competition focused on learning and mentoring with a friendly team headed by our Meet Director who takes care of all the onerous weather forecast interpretation, site choice and task setting, leaving you to just take off and enjoy flying the tasks. Some of our pilots come back to us year after year and several others have gone on to make their mark in the wider paragliding world.

You will find lots of useful information and answers to your questions on the BPCup website and the General heading is particularly useful for new competition pilots or for those with dodgy memories - https://www.bpcup.co.uk/faq

Your competition entry fee includes:

♦ Safety trackers
♦ A competitors meal one evening
♦ Subsidised retrieves
♦ Entry into our very own BPCup XCLeague - https://www.bpcup.co.uk/xcl/index.html - (even if you only compete in one round)

This will be the fourth visit of the BPCup to fly the Pennines. The main site of Parlick (within walking distance) has given us many wonderful XC days and on one occasion the UK weather was kind enough to allow four tasks over the four comp days. Tasks will vary depending on the weather but Parlick is a big hill and allows some interesting tasking, even if the weather does not allow big downwind distances. In 2025 a flight of 234k was flown from Parlick, the pilot landing at Dunbar in Scotland.

The nearest village is Chipping a short drive or cycle away with a couple of lovely pubs in the village doing excellent food. There is also a little village general store and licenced tea room - very friendly, also a little farm shop; which opens early for your fresh food requirements and the Cobbled Corner Cafe for breakfast and lunch. On your way in to the campsite you will very likely pass through Longridge where there is a good sized Sainsburys.

While an excellent HQ venue the gliding club does not have a bar licence so you will need to bring all your supplies with you. There is no rubbish collection from the gliding club so please ensure you take all your rubbish and recycling away with you.
