This was a difficult and long considered decision by the British Competitions Panel and the subject of many discussions.
Flying site
The competition will mainly be flown from the world famous Chabre ridge, which provides excellent opportunities for cross country flying both for experienced and fledgling pilots. Depending on weather conditions, other sites in the area may also be flown.

Event info
With regret I must inform you that the 2021 British National and Chabre Open scheduled for 15-21 August in Laragne has now been cancelled.
This was a difficult and long considered decision by the British Competitions Panel and the subject of many discussions. We have considered the changing picture regarding Covid and the current UK Government advice.
The advice is against travel to France from the UK and places restrictions on UK citizens regarding travel, quarantine and C-19 testing on both sides of the Channel. In addition to these restrictions and the costs incurred (in some cases very expensive) any insurance would likely to be invalid and the competition would not receive support of the BHPA.
This is very disappointing for pilots and for the competition panel, but the decision to cancel was unanimous.
As an alternative, we are now planning a competition in the UK - BOS2. We are hoping to hold this competition in South East Wales from 4-10 September 2021. This is also open to any foreign pilot with the correct flying qualification who is able to come to the UK. Details of the BOS 2 will be announced on our website when we have everything confirmed - please see https://hgcomps.uk/
Thank you and safe flying.
