Canungra is a famous Australian free flying area of Gold Coast region. There are several take offs for all wind directions located on 500 m high tree-covered mountain ridges. The area is about 30 km from the East coast of the continent so the sea breeze can intervene in the afternoon and produce some very buoyant conditions.

How to get here
Headquarters this year will be at the Canungra Hotel.
Canungra is a small country town nestled in a quiet valley behind the Gold Coast in the hinterland and surrounded by tree-covered ridges separating wide flat valleys. The location provides the environment for varied and challenging flying as well as plenty of alternative activities should the weather fail to co-operate. The town has most of the essential facilities necessary for survival of the hang gliding community. There is a pub, post-office, supermarket, a few cafe's, a chemist and one ATM. The launches are 15-20 minutes drive from the town centre.
Canungra is situated about 40 minutes drive from the Gold Coast just over an hour from Brisbane in the SE corner of Queensland. There are scheduled international domestic flights into Brisbane and Coolangatta airports. If driving from the south on the coast road, stay on the Pacific Highway until you reach Nerang and then follow the signs to Beaudesert/Canungra. If coming on one of the inland routes, stay on Cunningham's Highway until you cross the Great Dividing Range and then follow the signs for Boonah, Beaudesert and finally Canungra
