Gjirokastra South-West Take-off, 975m ASL (40.170935, 20.170040)!

Take-off is facing South-West towards Gjirokastra Valley. It takes 20 minutes drive with any type of vehicle to the take-off area and about 10 minutes of wallk to the actual take-off. The start is naturally grassy and clean without any major obstacles.

The area around the takeoff is known to be thermally with mild to moderate thermals, there are resident thermals immediately on the left and the right of takeoff. Mountain flying by midday from this takeoff offers great possibility to easily climb to the top of Çajupi mountain (left from takeoff) and fly the 10 km rigde toward the south followed by another 10 km rigde to the Greek border, whereas afternoon conditions offer great possibility for filed flying on the wide valley of Gjirokastra too.
