Open Iquique has been held in the past for many years as the big local pilots gathering, but for the year 2016 will be a first official FAI Competition. Iquique is the land for Tom Weissenberger's out and return world record.

Iquique is one of the most important flying sites in Chile offering 360 flying days a year with flights up to 10 hours per day.
It is located in Atacama region in the north of the country and is 1852 km away from the capital, Santiago.

Trophies and/or medals considered for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in both Class 1 and Class 1 Sport.

How to get here

Fly to Santiago, then fly to Iquique. Within Iquique you may take a bus, rent a car or take a taxi to HQ.
Beware to arrange for your glider transport in advance, we may have a place in a first come first serve basis on our trailer that departs by ground from Santiago to Iquique about Monday October 24th.

You can arrive by plane to Iquique, International airport Diego Aracena, is located 40 km south of Iquique
Bus
If you come from Santiago de Chile, take a bus from terminal Santiago bus station. Ticket price is about 55 Euro or 40 euro.

Iquique Airport – Iquique city – 13 dollars or 10 euros .
