Event info
This Competition aims to go to the best locations around Central Otago/Canterbury with the hope for an optimal flying experience. While the base will be Wanaka, the organisers will endeavour to be as flexible as possible with the competition locations. Be prepared to move with the weather. Perhaps pack some camping gear, just in case the venue is moved from Wanaka to chase the best locations.
This competition has become the 'go-to" competition for summer flying in NZ. For all levels of competency, it is a great way to increase your flying skills and fly with other pilots in a friendly, competitive and visually spectacular environment.
There is a mix of mountain and flat-land flying.
For those chasing points on the NZPRS, this will be the competition to attend. For the last couple of years this competition has generated the best attendance and points of any of the NZ Regionals.
Pilots are reminded that NZHGPA membership is renewable in Oct-Nov21 and to apply for FAI Sports licence with that renewal.
A BBQ night will be announced on the week and will be based on the best evening weather window.
Pilots are encouraged to get and use airband radios in addition to their standard UHF.
Selection and entry fee
A minimum pilot qualification of PG2 (or international equivalent) plus 40 hours logged flying, or, Approved as being capable of competing by an NZ registered paragliding instructor.
Completion of Waiver form.
Completion of a Treble Cone access (ZeroHarmFarm: health & safety) registration prior to the first day. ( it may take several days to process this application)
Confirmation is initially based on the top 10 places of the NZPRS and there-after on a 'first-come-first served' basis.
