The Qu'Appelle Classic is an annual meet for MHGA pilots and friends in the Qu'Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan on the Victoria Day weekend. This year, we are extending the competition over the whole week of May 18 to 26.

Event info

The Qu'Appelle Classic is an annual meet for MHGA pilots and friends in the Qu'Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan on the Victoria Day weekend. This year, we are extending the competition over the whole week of May 18 to 26. Come and join us for some foot-launched flights off the ridge in the valley. In the event of insufficient winds, we will have a couple of platform winches available to get in the air. The only requirement is that all participants have a current HPAC membership and abide by the Site Protocol. for the Qu'Appelle Valley - Crooked Lake flying sites. (http://hpac.ca/pub/?pid=431)

Selection and entry fee

No entry fees as this event is sponsored by the MHGA. First come, first served. The only requirement is that all participants have a current HPAC membership and abide by the Site Protocol. for the Qu'Appelle Valley - Crooked Lake flying sites. (http://hpac.ca/pub/?pid=431)

Prize fund and scoring categories

This is just a fun competition for all pilots, so the only prizes will be bragging rights.

General schedule

Pilots will meet daily to decide the day's task, depending on weather.

Accommodation and Activities

There are a few hotels/motels in Melville or one can camp at the Crooked Lake Campground.

How to get here

Take the TransCanada to Grenfell, SK and turn north on highway 47. Melville is approximately 60 Km. north of Grenefell. Or, if you prefer camping, you can turn right on Highway 247 and go to the Crooked Lake Provincial Park Campground, which is about 17 Km east.
