Apía is a town and municipality in the Department of Risaralda, Colombia. It is located at an elevation of 1,630 metres, about 60 km away from district capital Pereira in the valley of the Apia river. The town has excellent views over the Tatamá Hill which is part of the Tatamá Nature Park.

Apía Risaralda cuenta con una ubicación geográfica privilegiada en el flanco occidental de la Cordillera Central. Su alineación estratégica frente al ancho Valle del Risaralda genera una autopista de norte o el sur que a permitido realizar los vuelos mas largos de distancia en parapente de Colombia que pasan los 200 kms en linea recta.
Apía no es un voladero más; es el santuario de la distancia libre en Colombia. Testimonios en foros de vuelo libre y plataformas de rendimiento técnico describen este lugar con mística. La razón técnica es fascinante: el voladero goza de una ubicación estratégica donde confluyen las masas de aire del Valle del Risaralda y los vientos que ascienden por la cordillera.
Por eso realizaremos por primera vez en Colombia una competencia de este tipo, buscando que los pilotos puedan romper sus marcas personales y por que no el record nacional de distancia que precisamente esta entre Apia Risaralda y Santander de Quilichao Cauca.

Documents required at registration

FAI Sporting Licence
Issued by your local NAC on behalf of the FAI. You cannot normally compete in an FAI event without one. Contact your National Association (NAC)

FAI IPPI Card
The FAI IPPI card is an International card that states your skill level. It is issued by your National Association and matches the level or your flying Licence

National Licence
The organiser requires you to present your National flying licence.

Signed Waiver/Release form
You will need to sign a waiver or release document to show you understand the risks. Usually the organiser will provide it on arrival.

Experience summary required
The organiser wishes for you to provide a summary of your experience on arrival.

Identification documents needed
You will need to provide photo ID on arrival. This could be Passport, Driving Licence or National ID, for example.

Liability Insurance
You must provide the organiser with a copy of your liability (3rd party) insurance documents

Rescue/Medical Insurance
You must provide the organiser with a copy of your medical, rescue and repatriation insurance. You can purchase Global Rescue cover from Airtribune
Cancellation Policy
Cualquier piloto que cancele su inscripción recibirá un reembolso de la siguiente manera:
- Fecha de cancelación más de 20 días antes de la fecha de inicio de la competencia: reembolso del 50%
- Fecha de cancelación 20 días o menos que antes de la fecha de inicio de la competencia: reembolso del 0%

REEMBOLSOS
Los pilotos que cancelen su inscripción recibirán un reembolso según lo siguiente:
- Cancelación con más de 20 días de antelación a la fecha de inicio de la competición: 50% de reembolso
- Cancelación con 20 días o menos de antelación a la fecha de inicio de la competición: 0% de reembolso

Día 1 09/01/2027 Registro, Briefing y Vuelo de
Reconocimiento Entrega de trackers/spotters, verificación de licencias (APPI/FAI), alineación de seguridad con ATC / Aerocivil y ventana de vuelo libre.
Día 2 10/01/2027 Manga 1: Cazadores de Distancia Apertura de ventana temprana. Los pilotos eligen su ruta proyectada.
Día 3 11/01/2027 Manga 2: Ataque al Récord Optimización de rutas según condiciones meteorológicas del día. Múltiples equipos en ruta hacia el Cauca / Valle.
Día 4 12/01/2027 Manga 3 ( Optimización de rutas según condiciones meteorológicas del día. Múltiples equipos en ruta hacia el Cauca / Valle..
Dia 5 13/01/2027 Manga 4 (Cierre) & Premiación Manga corta/media con hora límite de aterrizaje temprano para cómputo de tracklogs IGC, premiación y clausura

Car
Apia is located in 55 km to the north from Pereira. It takes 1 and half hour to get there by car via 25 highway.
It takes about 4 hours to get there for Cali - 235 km.
