Competition SAFA Sanctioning:
The Bright Open 2021 will have FAI Cat 2 Sanctioning, however, the SAFA 'AAA' or 'AA', sanctioning will be decided a little differently due to the covid pandemic.

The Rules that the Aust Comps Committee has set out are such:
In order to provide the Australian domestic competitions the best chance of a national championship and to provide ladder results for the second year of team selection ladder, all three Australian competitions at Canungra, Bright and Corryong will be provisionally sanctioned as AAA.

Pursuant to section 3.2.3 of the competitions manual (Criteria for Assessment of Grade Sanction), there can be no restriction on Pilot entry. Therefore, if there are any inter-state/territory travel restrictions or any border closures between any state and territory from 14 days prior to the 1st competition day for any duration of time, the sanction of the event will automatically become a category B. To avoid doubt, the competition day will be the 15th day.

(Pilots having to return home to quarantine or self isolate for 2 weeks post event are considered 'not able to attend' or from a 'closed border' according the Bright Open 2021's interpretation of the above comps committee statement.
