Cameli challenge
Cameli Open 2013 was held from 10th to 16th of June. Despite Turkey’s fine paragliding climate the weather was rather rough making the competition suitable more for experienced XC pilots. Out of 4 tasks only 2 were finished and 2 were stopped due to possibility of overdevelopment. Only 16 of 63 pilots made Goal on the first task and 18 made Goal on the competition’s last day. Still those who managed to cope with the unexpected wind behavior and tricky task routes can really be called experts. Though sometimes flying tactics meant more than speed. Dmitry Samigullin, 3d ranked in overall shares his impressions: “I liked the place very much. It allows to set various and beautiful tasks. Very good transport infrastructure. The general organization level was good too. Perhaps we took more precautions because of the weather. We were not lucky with it. Usually the weather is said to be more interesting. As during the final task.”
