2017 Open Valle De Risaraida FAI 2 - Colombian paragliding championship Cross Country. It is the other round of XC Paragliding league and also the Second FAI 2 cross country event in the country for the season of 2017.
Flying site
Apía is a town and municipality in the Department of Risaralda, Colombia. It is located at an elevation of 1,630 metres, about 60 km away from district capital Pereira in the valley of the Apia river. The town has excellent views over the Tatamá Hill which is part of the Tatamá Nature Park.

2017 Open Valle De Risaraida FAI 2 - Colombian paragliding championship Cross Country. It is the other round of XC Paragliding league and also the Second FAI 2 cross country event in the country for the season of 2017. For the third time the club Free Flight Winds organizes a valid National Paragliding Championship 2017, we believe have the capacity to have a high profile event logistics, we constantly work to promote our flying site, which thanks to its mountains, valleys and topography allows good distance flights around the valley of Risaralda and north of the valley.
Participants pilots can score points for the 2017 Paragliding National Championships for the National Ranking and the International Ranking of the FAI.
From the takeoff apia the national record of distance was done by a flight of 213 kms on line straight, between Apia Risaralda and Caloto Cauca.
Apia is one hour from the airport of Pereira. 55 kms
Selection and entry fee
For pilots of colombia the inscription will have a cost of COP 350,000
The registration fee for each event will be USD-200 until the day of the event.
Account number to pay entry fee will be available soon. We will inform registered pilots by email.
Requirements for participants
- Valid FAI pilot license
- Flying equipment: paraglider, harness, rescue, helmet, radio, GPS
- Active cell phone with Colombian number - Smartphone with internet access (for live tracking) - Aitribune APP downloaded into your smartphone
- Radio
- External power units for recharging cel phones
- Registration fee payment stub
- Complete registration form ready before Day 1
- Accept local valid regulations.
- Medical insurance. Must be valid for paragliding in Colombia. Must show contract copy to prove so. If pilot does not have this insurance, it must be purchased locally, the organization of the event will offer you an option.
The entry fee includes:
- Shirt

- Transportation from Apia to the take off
- Retrieve on main roads for daily tasks
- Daily breakfast, snack and dinner
- Trofies and medals

The nearest airport is Pereira - Matecana International Airport. Avianca company makes flights from Bogota to Pereira several times a day.

Apia is located in 55 km to the north from Pereira. It takes 1 and half hour to get there by car via 25 highway.
