Event info
Trans’Alps 2021 will be the 2nd edition of the successfull 2020 new type of paragliding competition, combining all positive aspects of Sport competitions and long distance XC contests.
- Individual results counting against French permanent ranking and FAI WPRS ranking.
- Long distance tasks along aesthetic routes, to promote endurance and regularity. Typically, 50 to 200km tasks depending on weather conditions and flying sites.
- A wide selection of take-offs across South Alps, to mitigate the risks of bad weather conditions, to optimize flight plans and to enhance cooperation and flight strategy.
Free distance’ closed tasks will be preferred, but ‘races to goal’ and ‘elapsed time on paths’ tasks will be also considered. Priority will be given to the distance more than to the technical difficulty: If your ambition is to fight against the other pilots using full bar for no more than 2 hours, this may not be the competition you need! But if you dream of beautiful long distances and breathtaking views of wild massifs, we strongly recommend that you register shortly.
MOBILITY PRINCIPLE.
To fly far and long with a maximum of fun, early take-off is a must and the choice of the flying site is key. To optimize flying plans vs. weather conditions, Trans’Alps pilots will consent to a light and flexible organization:
- Breakfasts and sandwiches will not be provided by the organization. Local bakeries and bars are doing substantially better than us.
- Transport to take-off will be insured by the organization in two 9 places shuttles.
- Take-off details of the next day will be defined during the pilots daily briefing.
- After landing, pilots will retrieve and move to the next day site on their own. Hitch-hiking is an easy and fast solution in the area, and the organization will design the tasks to enable closed itineraries
along main roads.
- In case of late or far retrieval, the organization will take over. Two 9 places shuttles will be dedicated to picking pilots up. No one will be left behind. Our main concern is to ensure pilots security and quiet flights, with no inhibition due to retrieve constraints.
In short, we prefer to use our resources to propose beautiful tasks and to take full advantage of best flying conditions. To enjoy flying longer and better, while proposing attractive registration fee for a week of competition.

Accommodation and Activities
Camping and tents. The return of experience about 2020 edition shows that the best is to organize with his own team for logistics. The 2020 teams that were featured with a companion driving the vehicule to move from locations to other and carrying the camp stuff had the most convenient organization.
In 2020, every nights we had some camps and BBQ self organized, with memorable parties.
