This is a CIVL Category II paragliding competition, held in cooperation with the Austrian and Slovenian Paragliding Leagues. The event is organized by Društvo Adrenalin Gornje Posočje and brings together top pilots for a weekend of high-level flying, challenging tasks, and vibrant cross-border sport camaraderie.

Kobala is a famous flying site in Soca river valley in Slovenia. With the landing place in Tolmin it is intended for flying hang gliders and paragliders, for sport flying, competitions, events and training hang glider and paraglider pilots.

Event info
This is a CIVL Category II paragliding competition, held in cooperation with the Austrian and Slovenian Paragliding Leagues. The event is organized by Društvo Adrenalin Gornje Posočje and brings together top pilots for a weekend of high-level flying, challenging tasks, and vibrant cross-border sport camaraderie.
Selection and entry fee
Selection will be made on 28 February. At that time, payment offers will be sent to pilots. Selection is made solely at the discretion of the organizers, and the organizers’ decision is final.
If you receive a payment offer, you must complete the payment within 7 days. If payment is not received within this period, your place will be offered to another pilot on the waiting list.
Number of Participants
The maximum number of participants is 110 pilots.
Reserved Places
30 reserved places for each paragliding league:
Austrian League · Slovenian League
If a nation does not use all 30 reserved places, the remaining places will be allocated to non-nominated pilots from the waiting list.
Entry Fee
Please do not make any payment until you receive an email with payment details.
The total entry fee is 160 €:
60 € payable via bank transfer · 100 € payable in cash at the beginning of the competition
The entry fee must be paid immediately after receiving the payment email from the organizer.
Discount for Young Pilots
A 30 € discount is available for pilots under 28 years of age:
60 € pre-payment · 70 € cash payment
Participation Requirements
Valid pilot license · Valid FAI sporting license · IPPI card level 5 · Medical insurance covering paragliding · Third-party liability insurance covering paragliding
Certified and unmodified equipment required:
Helmet (EN 966) · Harness (EN 1651) · Paraglider (EN 926/2) · Rescue parachute · VHF radio · Mobile phone
Your glider must have valid proof of airworthiness(technical check required if the glider is older than 2 years) and must be flown within the certified weight range.
All of the above requirements will be checked during registration.
Liability
Participation in this competition is entirely at the pilot’s own risk. The organizer accepts no responsibility for pilots or third parties. Any transfers to takeoff sites and retrieval shuttle services are also undertaken at the pilot’s own risk.
Documents required at registration

FAI Sporting Licence
Issued by your local NAC on behalf of the FAI. You cannot normally compete in an FAI event without one. Contact your National Association (NAC)

FAI IPPI Card
The FAI IPPI card is an International card that states your skill level. It is issued by your National Association and matches the level or your flying Licence

National Licence
The organiser requires you to present your National flying licence.

Signed Application form
You will need to sign an applicaton form at the venue. Usually the organiser will provide it on arrival.

Signed Waiver/Release form
You will need to sign a waiver or release document to show you understand the risks. Usually the organiser will provide it on arrival.

Experience summary required
The organiser wishes for you to provide a summary of your experience on arrival.

Liability Insurance
You must provide the organiser with a copy of your liability (3rd party) insurance documents

Rescue/Medical Insurance
You must provide the organiser with a copy of your medical, rescue and repatriation insurance. You can purchase Global Rescue cover from Airtribune
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel more than 30 days before the planned competition dates, we will refund the full entry fee
minus €10 to cover transaction costs and administrative work.
Cancellations Less Than 30 Days Before the Competition
If you cancel less than 30 days before the competition, the pre-payment is non-refundable.
If you paid the full amount during registration, we will refund the portion exceeding the pre-payment amount.
Pilot Changes
You may transfer your place to another pilot up to 5 days before the event.
After this point, changes are no longer possible, as we require time to finalize competition preparation.
There is no fee for changing the competitor’s name (cost: €0).
Organizer Cancellation
If the organizer cancels the event due to weather predictions, we will retain €30 per pilot to cover
organizational and transaction costs.
All remaining payments will be refunded to the pilots.

Program Overview:
The competition includes four scheduled tasks, designed and assigned in accordance with official competition rules. All tasks depend on prevailing weather conditions and daily meteorological assessments.
Wednesday, May 6th
Registration: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Pilots complete registration, document checks, and collect competition materials.
Thursday, May 7th
Last Registration: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
09:00 a.m.: Welcome session, general briefing, weather forecast, and Safety/Task Committee selection.
10:30 a.m.: Task briefing and start of Task 1.
Friday – Saturday, May 8th – 9th
Execution of Tasks 2–4, dependent on weather conditions.
Daily morning briefings confirm or adjust tasks.
Sunday, May 10th
Final competition day, completion of remaining tasks, and the award ceremony.

How to get here
Tolmin Slovenia
Plane
The nearest international airports are Ljubljana (85 km away) and Trieste (70 km away) in Italy. From there you can catch a bus to Tolmin.
Bus
You can get to Tolmin by bus from most of the major cities in Slovenia.

Train
There is a train station at the nearby town of Most na Soci. It is about 10 minutes by taxi to Tolmin. Connecting trains are hard though as it is a small service. You can come from the north, through from Austria, with a change at Jesenice. You can also board at Nova Gorica in the south.
There is a Car Train service from the north than can turn a 1 hour car drive into a 35 minute ride through the beautiful valleys. But there are only 3 or 4 services a day, from Bohinska Bistrica.
Car
You can get to Tolmin either from Kobarid, Nova Gorica or Ljubljana/Idrija. The Headquarters are located at Gabrje Campsite, which is ca. 4 km NW from Tolmin by the Soca river.
