Flying site

The Tre Pizzi area has different takeoffs, from Monte Gemmo (1202 m. asl) and Pizzo Torto (1187 m. asl) , covering almost every wind direction. This flying site is located in the northern Apennines, just south-east of the well known Cucco flying site. It is formed by the valley of Matelica and Fabriano, about 30 km long and 8 wide, between two ridges that surround it on eastern and western side, each about 1200 m high.
It’s well protected from wind; often it’s possible to fly safely when in the Cucco area or in Assisi the wind blows too strong.
During summer, in the afternoon, the valley breeze can be quite strong, over 25 Km/h, otherwise there are no concerns.
Thermal activity can be strong during summer in the afternoon, up to 6 m/s. If wind is strong, it can become turbulent.
Later in the evening it’s usual to get big convergences in smooth conditions.
