Siria is the place with significance for paragliding in western region of Romania. Long XC flights have been flown here, this is a classic flatland site where your skill and knowledge will let you fly until sunset. Located in western part of Romania, Siria marks the spot where the Pannonia Basin ends and the first hills raise above the steady 100m altitude of the plain.
Siria has two official takeoffs (around 500m ASL) oriented to either North or South served by recently paved road. The gravel quarry located near the North takeoff is the source of one house thermal, landing places are safe and suitable for all pilots and glider categories.
By tradition, 1st of May is bank Holiday and Siria is the place of gathering for Romanian paragliding community since many years.
