Event info

Welcome to the 2019 Carpathian Cup! It will be held from July 27 till August 3, 2019, with August 4 reserve day, in the famous Ukrainian flying site Polonina Borzhava ridge in Carpathian Mountains.

Flying site

Gymba mountain (48.63, 23.27, 1491m), Polonina Borzhava ridge in Carpathian Mountains.
Take-off is on the top of the Gymba mountain and allows flying in all wind directions. Take-off is grassy, covered with low blueberry bushes, thats enough space for starting out of several dozen paragliders at the same time.
The main ridge is Polonina Borzhava, about 50 km long, with a width of 3-4 km (up to 10 km and more), the highest peak is Stij Mount (1681 m).
Very interesting tasks are usually set using a combination of the main ridge, valleys and several neighboring ridges.

Selection and entry fee

Entry fee:
- 120 Euro equivalent up to 01.07.2019.
- 140 Euro equivalent after 01.07.2019.

Payment details will be informed to participants by email on request.

09:00-11:00 Official registration,
12:00-17:00 Official training day,
19:00-22:00 Official registration.
Sun, Jul 28:
10:00 Competition opening, General briefing,
11:00 First contest flying day,
19:00 Opening ceremony;
Sun, Jul 28 - Sat, Aug 3:
Contest flying days,
Sat, Aug 3:
19:00 Prize-giving and closing ceremony
Sun, Aug 4:
Reserve day (if less than 3 valid tasks will take place during previous days).

Daily schedule

Typical competition day schedule (depending on the actual weather conditions) :
09:00 Headquarter opens,
09:45 Daily briefing, meteo, announcement of results – at Headquarter;
10:00 Transportation to take off,
12:00 Pilots briefing / Task briefing at start place;
12:30-17:30 Flying time;
18:00-20:00 Scoring time;
20:00 Provisional results (depending on the last pilot being retrieved);

The schedule is subject to change according to meet director decision.

Accommodation and Activities

Competition HQ will be at - "Shepit Karpat" hotel.

Comfortable accommodations: DBL, TRBL, suit, family room.
Parking: The closest hotels: “Pylypets”, “Shepit karpat” (~from 15 Euro with breakfast).

Private sector
Comfortable accommodations: DBL, TRBL, suit, family room.
From 7-8 Euro + from 5-6 Euro 2 meals a day.

Tent
With your own tent a place for it will be granted.
From 1 Euro - for place tent (all period), + 1 Euro - one person/24h for shower, bathroom in hotel.

By plane:
The nearest international airports are Lviv (~200km) and Kyiv (~700km). From there you can get to Pylypets village by train.

By car:
Take road E471 till Nyzhni Vorota; next ~ 20km Volovets; next ~15km Pylypets; next ~5km “Shepit karpat” hotel.

By train:
Train station Volovets. From Volovets station taxi ~20km till Pylypets village “Shepit karpat” hotel.
